PRAYING SAFE: CHURCH SECURITY WORKSHOP
From the authors of “Praying Safe: The professional approach to protecting faith communities” comes the Praying Safe Church Security Workshop!
Authors Grant Cunningham and Joshua Gideon will host this rare 2 day workshop in East Central Indiana. If you are a church leader interested in the topic, part of a security team, or interested in starting a security team, this class is for you!
In the professional world of security, those who need to make decisions based on logical conclusions use a system called Risk Management. From secret service to DHS critical infrastructure protection specialists, to private security, Risk Management is at the epicenter of their planning and decision-making.
In this course, we will explore the Risk Management process included in “Praying Safe” that Joshua Gideon and Grant Cunningham have developed from over a decade of working with Places of Worship to implement and enhance their security. Places of Worship require a delicate approach to security. Justification for each security measure and a balanced approach are critical for the long-term sustainment in this unique environment.
The course will be workshop based and students will work in groups to put together the elements needed for a full risk assessment and risk mitigation plan. Students will explore the threats and more importantly what is being targeted. They will walk through developing a plan for an example place of worship and will explore several incident scenarios as part of a training exercise.
This class is a thinking class, so come prepared! Workbook materials will be provided, however Internet enabled laptops or tablet devices are recommended for researching information during the workgroup exercises.
This will be a two day workshop starting on April 29th & 30th at 9am to 5pm each day. (NOTE: This is the Monday and Tuesday after the NRAAM in Indianapolis, so if you are in town, take a couple extra days to learn!)
Students will get hands on experience doing the exercises described in the “Praying Safe” book.
The class will take place at Victory Range & Armory, located near Interstate 70, about 30 miles East of Indianapolis. Additionally, part of the class will be at a local church.
The Steve Alford Inn is within minutes of the range and rates are very reasonable from $50-$65 normally. Tell them you are in town for the class for a discounted rate.
There are several restaurants in the area and everyone is welcome to meet up with us after class for dinner. Black Rifle Coffee will be available in the classroom both days.
